Notes

Small things worth writing down.

On keeping a plain-text journal

A folder of dated text files has outlived every app I tried. Search is grep, backup is a copy, and nothing asks me to upgrade. The trick is to write a line every day, even when the line is only the weather.

Bread, again

Less yeast, more time. An overnight rise in the fridge does more for the crumb than any flour I have bought. Bake hot, then leave it alone for an hour before cutting.
